The beginning of ATROPOS is dated on 1994. The band was created by Godless and Wittu (the former guitarist). The years 1994 - 1996 were used for finding the best line-up, any place to rehearse etc. By the end of 1996, the band was completed by Kamilla Kurpiewska. We call this moment the real beginning of the band's activity.

In December 1996, ATROPOS recorded the first demo tape, which contained two songs. Initially this tape was not intended to be sold, but at least it was sold in over three hundred copies throughout Poland; it was a great success for young and inexperienced band. Thanks to that tape the band made its stage debut with nearly an hour-long gig at the Judgement Night event at Paradise Club in Warsaw in 1997. The audience very warmly welcomed the concert and it became the turning point in the band's career. The next few months were dedicated work on the first, debut album, "Silent Touch". The album was recorded in the autumn of 1997 at HARD RECORD Studio in Warsaw, with the guest appearance of the musicians of the Annalist band. Hard Record Studio was chosen because of the very strong recommendations (Jerzy Satanowski - one of the best theatrical composers in Poland, the bands well known in Poland, like ANKH, Kult, Kazik, Hate, Pascal etc.). After two months of work, finished with the mastering done by one of the best professionals - Grzegorz Piwkowski (co-operator of the Polish divisions of Sony Music, Warner, EMI, Koch International etc.) the band started promotion of "Silent Touch". The end of this recording was the beginning of the new period in the band's activity, so the band parted with its two female singers, with regard to create a new material. "Silent Touch" was very well welcomed by the Polish radio stations (Rozglosnia Harcerska (now known as Radiostacja), Radio Grudziadz (second place in an yearly recapitulation of the best demo tapes in 1998; first place in the staff's classification), Radio Bartoszyce).

In the year 1998 the band started the cyclical event called DARK UNDERGROUND FESTIVAL. ATROPOS played 5 times at this festival, each time having very good reviews in TV, radios, 'zines and Internet. The Festival's first edition was televised and ATROPOS was interviewed by ATOMIC TV. The year 1998 was dedicated to seeking for a label for the first child of ATROPOS. HARDGOTHIC RECORDS, which had seemed to be interested in releasing "Silent Touch", did not acquit themselves of this task and after a half year of the talks the band quit the co-operation and decided to release the material on their own (but not to stop seeking for a label). In the meantime, "Silent Touch" has obtained very good marks from the leading magazines (MORBID NOIZZ - 5,7 points of possible 6, METAL HAMMER - 4,6 of 5). ATROPOS started to play concerts, and during this time had undoubted pleasure to play with, among others, SACRIVERSUM, TRAUMA, NEOLITH, EPITOME, IMMEMORIAL, DEMISE, ODIUM, UNNAMED, MORTIS DEI, FAUST, VESANIA an many other bands. The band also had a possibility of playing with PARADISE LOST, when the co-ordinator of their tour turned to ATROPOS with a proposal of playing in Poznan, but the health problems of one of the members made it impossible.

The year 1999 was devoted, apart from the gigs and the work on the new material, to further promotion of the band's name in the mass media. In September ATROPOS started to work with Mariusz Stelagowski (Multum In Parvo 'Zine), who is responsible for the promotion since then. In the effect of this co-operation ATROPOS appeared in the Internet (atropos.rockmetal.art.pl). Since November 1999 over 20.000 surfers visited the site. November 1999 was also the month when ATROPOS finished the preparations and started recording the "Silent Touch's" successor at SERAKOS Studio in Warsaw. The album has been recorded with the same people who worked with ATROPOS on the first material. The session ended in March 2000 with mastering made at HARD RECORD Studio, well known to the band. During this time, thanks to Mariusz Stelagowski, the promoter supporting ATROPOS, the whole "Silent Touch" (54 minutes / 9 songs) was made accessible by the Net (on the leading rock and metal services, as rockmetal.pl, masterful magazine, multuminparvo.rockmetal.art.pl, nuta.pl) in mp3 format. ATROPOS has also appeared in USA, thanks to Radio Death (www.radiodeath.com).

The material recorded in 1999/2000, "Triafata", is a continuation of the style started on "Silent Touch". Although the second album is more brutal, the common elements can be easily heard. ATROPOS used many experiments and maintained their specific atmosphere of the music. The progression is not accidental. The effect of the both recordings was planned. "Silent Touch" put the stress on the calm atmosphere, and "Triafata" may be interpreted as an aggressive answer for that. Period of silence following the recording session was caused by search of the label for the latest album. The negotiations resulted with a release, on February 26, 2001, of the debut album of the band. The album was released by Apocalypse Productions, the new label based in Warsaw, gathering also such bands as Unnamed, Thunderbolt, Annalist, Hate or the legendary Domain. The label released also the re-releases of the albums of Christ Agony and Pandemonium. "Triafata" was released in two formats - 2CD and MC. The limited 2CD edition had a bonus - the first Atropos' LP, "Silent Touch".

After the LP was released, Atropos had played, among others, on the first Polish open air metal festival - Dying Art in Rusocin. In the fall of 2001 the band celebrated their fifth anniversary. The two-part birthday gig took place on November 13, 2001, in 69 Club in Warsaw. The audience, who came not only from Warsaw, but also from the other parts of the country, was present and the club was full. Just few months after the party the band split with their up-to-date drummer, who moved to Poznan. The concert in Katowice, at Mystic Night, in February 2002, was the farewell gig.

The search for a new drummer started, as well as some now concepts, as use of a drum machine or increase of use of the electronic effects, were developed. Finally, for the position machine operator and third guitarist, the band appointed Sproket (ex-Powerage), who soon found the drummer for them - Schmier (Remains). The line-up seemed to be stable and the band started to play gigs with new material, created in late 2002 and 2003. After a series of concerts in the beginning of July Schmier left the band of personal reasons. The situation was complicated, because in 2 and 4 days Atropos had two gigs scheduled - in Malbork, at Malborski Przeglad Muzyczny, and in Pruszcz Gdanski. In these circumstances the drum machine was programmed in nearly two days and the band performed two successful concerts, this was a new stage experience, the difficult one, as the band could not properly rehearse the material in this form.

On December 11, 2004, during the concert at Progresja Club in Warsaw, the band carried on a personal experiment - the first part of the set was performed with the automatic drums and the second with the new drummer - Videl, who had joined ATROPOS at the turn of October and November. Videl has quickly taken roots. Thanks to this the band was able enter the studio and in April 2005, at Serakos again, record its EP entitled "Crucifiction". The material, self-released by the band, contains six songs which, although sounding with elements characteristic for both previous releases, unifying the space of "Silent Touch" with energy of "Triafata", presents the new face of ATROPOS - more mature, not so trembling as on the first, and no so aggressive as on the second release. Currently the band conitues to promote "Crucifiction". Some gigs are on their ways, as well as new tracks which, together with those recorded for the EP, will be recorded for the full LP by the end of the year.
